Being in SL is truly like traveling to another country; they do things differently there. Including, apparently, elevate the obscure Prism DuroSport mp3 player to better-seeling-than-iPod status. The DuroSport, manufactured in RL in Moldova, has been called the ‘worst digital audio player ever‘ by Medialoper.com. That’s EVER, boys and girls, and that includes the Zune, fercryinoutloud.

Here’s what I love about this company: when you Search for Durosport, what pops up is the typical area summary, but with the above photo (next to the RL Prism — yes, it really looks like that!) and the blurb “The Prism DuroSport is the biggest portable media player in SL. Your Apple iPod can go to hell! And iTunes! And the Zune!” You are bound by law to love that kinda chutzpah! Seriously, though, the press release says nothing about how many iPods or Prisms have been sold … and considering Apple doesn’t even have a presence in SL yet, where does this enthusiasm come from? It’s like me saying “I’m the greatest white werewolf named Akela Talamasca ever! Your standard Wolfman can go to hell! And other lycanthropes! And Jack Nicholson!” Sorry; I nearly wet myself laughing just now. Kudos, DuroSport!
